  • General people showed anger in against of continuous crime and violation against Women in last couple of months throughout the nation. No political party, just youths gathered at India Gate and Risina Hills in New Delhi to show their protest.
  • Sikkim – the land of mystic splendour, declared the best small state of India. Lok Sabha chairman, Meera Kumar handed over this prestigious award to Sikkim Chief Minister, Mr. Pawan Kumar Chamling. Sikkim honoured with this award for its successful contribution in state’s Environment, Security, Water and Health systems.

National News/Events of 24 December 2012

  • Governor of West Bengal as well as Chancelor of Jadavpur University, Mr. M. K. Narayanan conferred Sarod  maestro Amzad Ali Khan with honorary Doctor of Literature degree (D.Lit) in university’s 57th convocation held in Kolkata.
  • Prime accused of 2006 Nithari Serial Killing, Surender Kohli (Koli) awareded with a life sentence by Special CBI Court. He already sentenced death in four murder case.

National News/Events of 25 December 2012

  • Severely injured 47 years old Delhi Police Constable Subhas Tomar died at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi. He was beaten up by the mass in Delhi agitation. Eight agitators were arrested due to his death.
  • United Nations will help Government of West Bengal to setup village tourism centers throughout the state. UN’s World Tourism Organization confirmed Bengal to cooperate to help the different projects on folk culture and folk art of rural Bengal.
  • Four Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans were killed and one injured when their one mentally disturbed collegue (camp-mate) open fired them by his own gun in Dantewara District, Chhattisgarh. He was arrested.
  • Delhi University increased the duration of all courses from 3 to 4 years in Graduation level.

National News/Events of 26 December 2012

  • Five Delhi based teenaged National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets drowned in Periyar River in Ernakulam District of Kerala while they were attending a national level trekking camp organized by NCC in Malayattor jungle.
  • Mr. Narednra Singh Modi took outh as Chief Minister of Gujarat for the fourth time. He was CM of the state in 2001 (for 1 year), 2002 (full time) and 2007 (full time).
  • Chairman  of West Bengal School Service Commision (WBSSC), Mr. Chittaranjan Mandal and Chairman of West Bengal Council for Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE), Mr. Muktinath Chattopadhyay met West Bengal Governor Mr. M. K. Narayanan separately due to some recent incident in education segment of the state.

  • The 57th meeting of National Development Council (NDC) took place in Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi which was presided over by the Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh.

  • The all party meeting called by Central Home Ministry regarding the Telengana statehood issue , was concluded without any result. Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde confirmed that the final decision will be taken within a month.

  • The severely molested and beaten 23 years old young braveheart of New Delhi lost her 13 days fight agains death since 16th December after her horrific gangrape. She was from Uttar Pradesh and studying a paramedical course in Delhi. Delhi braveheart breathed her last in Mount Elizabeth Hospiral in Singapore. The six culprits who were involved in this shameful incident have already been arrested. This grief-stricken death of Delhi paramedical student shaded the whole nation with tears.
  • The Telengana supporters observed a bandh in demand of separate statehood in Andhra Pradesh.
  • The 10th accused of 2006 Malegaon blast in Assam arrested by police.
  • The dream Ecotourism Park inaguretaed at Rajarhat-New Town in Kolkata by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. She named it as Prakriti Tirtha. This park sprawls across a 480 acres land and out of which 200 acres covered by waterbodies. Boating facility will be introduced later on. This new ecotourism hotspot near Kolkata constructed by Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) in last 9 months.
